The National Nurses Survey on Health and Chemical Exposures
This electronic survey explores the relationship between a nurse's health and on-the-job exposures to chemicals, drugs and other harmful agents. Over a period of several months, nurses will be able to enter information on-line about their workplace experiences and exposures. They will also be able to downlead information related to hazardous substances and alternative products. Once the data collection period is completed, findings will be analyzed by environmental scientists and nurses and disseminated to the profession. The Hanford Community Health Project (HCHP) is an outreach and education initiative sponsored by ATSDR (Agency for Toxic Substances and DiseaseRegistry). The project provides educational resources to individuals, and their health care providers, who were exposed as young children to radioactive iodine (I-131) released from the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in south central Washington state. The focus is on releases of I-131 that took place between 1944 and 1951.The project's goal is to assist concerned individuals and their health care providers in making informed health care
choices concerning these exposures. For more information visit:

The Luminary Project: Nurses Lighting the Way to Environmental Health is an effort to capture the illuminating stories of nurses' activities to improve human health by improving the health of the environment. The shining stories on this website show how nurses are creatively and strategically addressing environmental problems and illuminating the way towards safe hospitals, communities with clean air, land and water and children born without toxic chemicals in their bodies.
The Luminary Project is the collaboration of the Nurses Workgroup of Health Care Without Harm, a 501c3 organization, and the nurses and nursing organizations who are the Guiding Lights and Beacons for this Project. The Beldon Fund is providing financial support for The Luminary Project: Nurses Lighting the Way to Environmental Health.
